If
you're a fan of Harry potter or simply love fantasy, then you will
love The Night Circus. I
was captivated by the flow of words and the way they came together to
create a novel that was so beautifully written, I was upset when the
magic ended. Check out the flow of words for yourself. It's not what
was written but the way that it was written. This is a short quote from
chapter 4 of The night circus.
“The
building is grey as the pavement below and the sky above, appearing
as impermanent as the clouds, as though it could vanish into the air
without notice. Nondescript grey stones renders it indistinguishable
from the surrounding buildings save for a tarnished sign hanging by
the door. Even the headmistress inside is clad in deep charcoal. Yet
the man in the grey suit looks out of place.”
There
is an historical setting of beautiful 19th century London.
There's a tinge of romance and some mild language, but nothing too
much that would be considered inappropriate for teenagers.
About
the book: The Night Circus is about a strange and magnificent circus
that feels like it is filled with magic. The circus is unique in that it only opens
at mid-night. Patrons come for all around to be transfixed by the
wonders this circus holds. Even the name is magical; Le
Cirque des RĂªves, the
circus of dreams. But
unbeknown to the Patrons, is a special competition that takes place
every few years. In this competition two young children are raised in
the arts of magic and deception, in order to one day use these skills
to battle one another in an epic duel where only one will remain
standing.
About
the author: Erin Morgenstern was born on July 8th 1978 and
raised in Marshfield, Massachusetts. She studied theater and studio
art graduating with her degree in 2000. Groundwork for The Night Circus began on November of 2005 and finished around 2010. But after
getting rejected by thirty literary agents, Erin decided to sign with
Doubleday, leading The Night Circus to be published on September of
2011. In addition to writing, she also paints, mostly in acrylics,
these works include the Phatomwise tarot deck.
Review:
I loved this book. I loved how it was written, the words were so
beautiful and magical that they matched the strange uniqueness that Erin created in the
book. I thought the drag level of the book was descent. Given the
fact that the book contains so many characters and each one has a
back story. Also, because of that, this is not a book that you'd want
to put down and come back to later. I would recommend this book to
anyone who loves fantasy, romance, and well written novels. I gave
this book four out of five stars. You can find it here: http://www.amazon.com/Night-Circus-Erin-Morgenstern or
