Our Take On Paper Verses Kindle

I recently ran into an article that said, In the age of Amazon, used books are marking an unlikely comeback, of course I was fascinated with this. I, myself enjoy paper over Kindle. There are many reasons, for example, with paper I never have to worry about charging a battery. There's nothing worse than being right in the middle of a griping story, and then suddenly your Kindle dies, because if you're like me you usually forget to charge it.

Secondly, you don't get that glorious book smell with Kindle. Call me crazy but I just love the smell of a book, both new and old, seriously they should bottle that stuff! Thirdly, with a book you never have to worry about hard to read font. I'm not kidding, I literally spent six hours one time trying to charge the font on my Kindle. I don't know about you, but I've never had a book that was difficult to read font wise.

It is not to say that kindle is bad. There are things I like and enjoy about Kindle as well. For instance, I like that it is small and portable. With a book there's a lot of bulk and it does get quite heavy. Especially if you've been reading for awhile. Also with Kindle, you can read in the dark by the light of the screen. A feature a book can't compete with. This saves you tons on electricity. That's a major plus. Considering that, if you spend hours reading, you know the price of leaving a light on all night. Book lights don't last very long and often die, and they're hard to maneuver so that light shines on the whole page.

With this being a highly controversial subject, there are many takes and opinions. We'd love to hear yours. What do you enjoy more, Kindle or Paper? Please let us know.  Also in the comments, we'd love to know,  what is your favorite book? Or  if you have a suggestion for a review, we'd love to hear about that too. The Name Of The Wind (Kingkiller Chronicle)

It has taken some time, but I finally got around to doing this review. This book is recommended for anyone who loves fantasy. The book has some similarities with Harry Potter. If you like magic schools, wizards, hardships, a tinge of romance, and snooty professors, this book is for you. This book is thick, with 92 chapters. You might want to consider grabbing its audio book version, narrated by: Nick Podehl. That is, if you are pressed for time.

About the Book:  The Name of the Wind is the first book in the Kingkiller Chronicle, it follows a young boy named Kvothe. After losing his parents, Kvothe is left an orphan begging on the streets. Until he becomes accepted into the university.

Poor and younger than most other students, Kvothe must prove himself worthy of staying in such a prestigious school. Between bullies, his studies, and attaining enough money for another semester, Kvothe must rely even more on his talented mind and abilities to survive. Told through the eyes of Kvothe, this incredible boy, defies the odds and rises to become the best wizard in his time.

About the Author: Born in Madison, Wisconsin. Patrick Rothfuss is an American author and lecturer, who accomplished such things as, receiving his Bachelors and then Masters degree in English, orchestrating a podcast called, The story board, running a charity, and becoming a father. He won in the writers of the future competition back in 2002. He has written many fantasy adventure novels and now lives in a house he purchased with his girlfriend, Sarah.

Review: I highly enjoyed this book. It is a fantastic read for fantasy lovers. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. This book has a bit of everything. It is suitable for teenagers 15 and up. There are many sad parts, as well as, touching heart griping moments. I see this book as ageless and classic as, The chronicles of  Narnia, Harry Potter, and The Hobbit. You can purchase it at the link below, but don't forget about the audio version, which is very enjoyable to listen to.

Deepen by Msh Shawoon

This is a very special review. My close and dearest friend, Msh Shawoon, has published this beautiful book of poems. This book is recommended for all lovers. Whether you're newly wed or newly in love, or maybe you're just a romantic. Either way this book will captivate you.

About the book: This is a short book of poems. It was published yesterday, October, 27th 2015.

About the Author: There are many great things that I could say about Msh Shawoon. But I'll just say, he is one of my dearest friends. He is from Bangladesh. When not writing, Msh tutors students who struggle with school work. Msh has currently been nominated for volunteer work at a gaming company, he will be working on the game Ascension XNA.

Review: I gave his book, Deepen, a star rating of 4. Though the book of poems was very good. I felt that it was too short to be considered a book, with 8 pages total there could have been a lot more to it. Also, I felt the formatting was somewhat off. Msh is a great writer and I hope to see many more wonderful things come from him. Congratulations to my best friend, Msh Shawoon. Please check out his book and support him: http://www.amazon.com/Deepen-MSH-SHawoon-ebook

The Night Circus

If you're a fan of Harry potter or simply love fantasy, then you will love The Night Circus. I was captivated by the flow of words and the way they came together to create a novel that was so beautifully written, I was upset when the magic ended. Check out the flow of words for yourself. It's not what was written but the way that it was written. This is a short quote from chapter 4 of The night circus.

The building is grey as the pavement below and the sky above, appearing as impermanent as the clouds, as though it could vanish into the air without notice. Nondescript grey stones renders it indistinguishable from the surrounding buildings save for a tarnished sign hanging by the door. Even the headmistress inside is clad in deep charcoal. Yet the man in the grey suit looks out of place.”

There is an historical setting of beautiful 19th century London. There's a tinge of romance and some mild language, but nothing too much that would be considered inappropriate for teenagers.

About the book: The Night Circus is about a strange and magnificent circus that feels like it is filled with magic. The circus is unique in that it only opens at mid-night. Patrons come for all around to be transfixed by the wonders this circus holds. Even the name is magical; Le Cirque des RĂªves, the circus of dreams. But unbeknown to the Patrons, is a special competition that takes place every few years. In this competition two young children are raised in the arts of magic and deception, in order to one day use these skills to battle one another in an epic duel where only one will remain standing.

About the author: Erin Morgenstern was born on July 8th 1978 and raised in Marshfield, Massachusetts. She studied theater and studio art graduating with her degree in 2000. Groundwork for The Night Circus began on November of 2005 and finished around 2010. But after getting rejected by thirty literary agents, Erin decided to sign with Doubleday, leading The Night Circus to be published on September of 2011. In addition to writing, she also paints, mostly in acrylics, these works include the Phatomwise tarot deck.

Review: I loved this book. I loved how it was written, the words were so beautiful and magical that they matched the strange uniqueness that Erin created in the book. I thought the drag level of the book was descent. Given the fact that the book contains so many characters and each one has a back story. Also, because of that, this is not a book that you'd want to put down and come back to later. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy, romance, and well written novels. I gave this book four out of five stars. You can find it here: http://www.amazon.com/Night-Circus-Erin-Morgenstern or you can find the audible version here: http://www.audible.com/pd/Fiction/The-Night-Circus-Audiobook Read for you by Jim Dale.

Anna and the French kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Anna and the French kiss, a classic tale of teenage romance. It has a lot of charm and humor, mixed into it's pages of well written drama. Anna and the French kiss, will sweep you off your feet and remind you of how it feels to be in love for the first time. An enjoyable read, recommended for ages 13 and up. It has mild language, teenage alcohol consumption, and a few make out sessions.

About the book: The story follows Anna Oliphant, who is sent away to Paris, France on her senior year. When she first arrives to France, she feels out of place, lonely and reluctant to leave her dorm. Then she meets Meredith and her friends. It doesn't take long for Meredith and her friends to warm up to Anna. Especially the handsome, Etienne St. Clair. Before she knows it, Anna is thrown into a world of teenage drama and self discovery.

About the Author: Stephanie Perkins is the author of three best selling novels. She currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina. Stephanie has always worked with and loved books. She was a bookseller, then a librarian, and now she's a novelist. She is happily married to Jarrod Perkins.

Review: Honestly, I couldn't put this book down. The story was well written and the characters were easy to fall in love with. Unfortunately, the story dragged toward the end and it felt predictable. The book also lacked jaw-dropping moments. The book was good but that was it. It was just good, plain and simple. For this reason, I gave this story: Three out of five stars.
